Soitec brings semiconductors to Italy

Soitec, a French company that manufactures semiconductor material for use in concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) solar energy systems, has announced a deployment of 5 megawatts of CPV systems to seven solar projects in Italy. Soitec has also developed systems in the U.S., demonstrating the global reach of the advanced energy economy. Clean Technology Business Review reports:

Soitec Solar Energy division Solar Projects Development vice president José Beriot remarked that Soitec's technology is ideal for Italy's solar initiatives as it provides the highest power-generating efficiency. "We are committed to have a competitive offering in Italy and we are currently looking into integrating more and more local content.
