Direct Energy testing advanced energy program in Texas
The Sacramento Bee // Sep 05, 2012Texas utility Direct Energy is testing their New Leaf Energy program, which allows energy consumers to purchase energy specifically from Texas wind turbines. New Leaf Energy will be available initially in Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Corpus Christi. Direct Energy may incorporate other renewable power sources in the future, but for now the program is focused solely on wind. Triple Pundit, an energy blog writing on the program reports:
"New Leaf customers … get a lot of bang for their buck. One thing they’re getting is bragging rights to home state pride, since New Leaf is certifying (through third party Green-e®) that its renewable energy is generated '100 percent from Texas wind turbines.'"
