Forbes // Jun 20, 2012

SoloPower, based in Silicon Valley, has been outfitting its factory in Portland to manufacture thin film solar panels. The panels, which contain cells made of copper, indium, gallium, and selenium (CIGS), will be produced mainly for commercial and industrial buildings. Forbes reports:

The company is putting in that first line now, and by the end of this year, that line should reach an annual production capacity of 40 megawatts, [SoloPower CEO Tim] Harris said. […] Currently, the company has a pilot production line of a few megawatts at its hometown of San Jose, Calif.
