OSU to get a quarter of its energy from wind power

Akron Legal News // Oct 12, 2012

The Ohio State University announced that it will purchase 50 megawatts of power from Blue Creek Wind Farm, which is located in western Ohio. The purchase is one of the larger renewable energy buys from a non-utility entity. Akron Legal News reports:

“Together we will make Ohio State a national leader in sustainability, while investing in renewable energy produced right here in Ohio,” said Gee… The purchase also helps Ohio State diversify its energy portfolio and it allows university energy experts to prepare for the future by knowing the cost of this electricity resource for the next 20 years, which enables university officials to better prepare for changes in the energy sector as well as long-term planning.
