New Flyer Industries poised to introduce electric buses to North America
Forbes // Jun 08, 2012North America's first electric bus manufacturer, New Flyer Industries, unveiled its first prototype all-electric bus. The American electric vehicle market has largely been limited to personal use cars and fleet vehicles, unlike South Korea and other international markets that have embraced the idea of electric drive trains in buses for mass transportation. New Flyer intends to expand the use of all-electric buses in Canada and the US. Forbes reports:
New Flyer is developing its bus in partnership with the Manitoba government, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, and a local utility and college. They plan two years of operational testing before launching a commercial version.
