Our energy system is going through a period of transformational change. Evolving consumer preferences, dynamic new technologies and services, and the need to replace aging infrastructure are creating new opportunities for states across the country to modernize the energy sector.
The $200 billion national advanced energy market is already benefiting Nevada’s economy. In 2018, the clean energy industry supported more than 25,000 jobs across the state in sectors such as solar, geothermal and energy efficiency.
The next governor has the opportunity to harness the economic power of clean energy to grow Nevada’s economy and create high quality jobs.
Regardless of the outcome of the energy choice ballot initiatives before voters in 2018, the next governor must take action to encourage innovation, accommodate consumer demands, support new services and providers, and smooth the transition to a new era of clean, secure, and affordable energy.
