AEE Applauds Florida House Passage of EV Charging Infrastructure Bill, SB 7018

Posted by Monique Hanis on Mar 12, 2020

TALLAHASSEE, March 12, 2020 — Today, national business group Advanced Energy Economy reacted to Florida House passage of SB 7018* yesterday, a bill that directs the Florida Department of Transportation, in consultation with the Florida Public Service Commission, Office of Energy, and relevant stakeholders, to develop a “Master Plan” for electric vehicle infrastructure expansion. The House vote was 97-19 and follows Senate passage late Friday, clearing the bill for the Governor's signature.

"We applaud the Florida legislature for making electric vehicles a legislative priority in the 2020 session and the House for passing Senate Bill 7018 today. This bill is an important step toward expanding electric vehicle charging infrastructure along the State Highway System and taking other steps to maximize the benefits of electric vehicles to Floridian consumers and businesses,” said Dylan Reed, Director with Advanced Energy Economy. “Regulatory certainty for electric vehicle charging infrastructure will unlock investment in the state and make Florida a national leader on electrified transportation."

"We look forward to Governor DeSantis signing this legislation, as it is in line with his priority to ensure every Floridian has access to electric vehicle charging," said Reed.
