WASHINGTON, D.C., September 27, 2021 — In an open letter to Congress and the White House, business leaders from across the advanced energy industry are calling for the passage of the Build Back Better Act. The call to action was organized by national business association Advanced Energy Economy (AEE), in partnership with its affiliate organization Advanced Energy Works, which published the open letter online and in a full page ad in the Washington Post.
“Our companies are ready to invest in the manufacturing, development, installation, and use of the technologies that will support our nation’s transition to 100 percent clean energy and transportation. But we need Congress’ help to do it,” says the letter, which is signed by the CEOs of over two dozen advanced energy companies. The businesses that signed the letter include developers and installers of renewable energy, technology innovators that are making our nation’s electric grid smarter and more efficient, and suppliers of zero-emission vehicles and charging infrastructure.
The energy proposals in the Build Back Better Act will support a growing industry that creates jobs and economic development in all 50 states. There are currently 3.2 million Americans employed in the advanced energy industry, and an investment of this scope and magnitude could dramatically expand that number, while also growing the national economy by trillions of dollars.
“If enacted, the Build Back Better Act would put the U.S. on course to leading the world in advanced energy manufacturing, transportation electrification, and carbon emissions reductions, all while creating millions of jobs and investing in economic opportunity for American workers and families,” said Leah Rubin Shen, AEE’s director of federal policy engagement. “There’s only one industry that can help the country stimulate the economy, rebuild our nation’s crumbling infrastructure, and create the technology needed to address climate change, and that’s advanced energy.”
The advertisement in the Washington Post is part of a larger six-figure advertising campaign by Advanced Energy Works, which has included ads run in Arizona, Virginia, Colorado, and Nevada with a message that elevates the economic benefits that clean energy investments have brought to communities in these states.
