Natural gas accounts for more than half of 2013's utility-scale generation capacity

According to the Energy Information Administration, the U.S. added over 13,500 MW of new generating capacity in 2013. Natural gas accounted for over 55 percent of utility scale generation and was followed by grid-scale solar energy which accounted for 22 percent. Nearly half of the capacity generation was in California, which has a mandate for 33 percent renewable energy by 2020. Read more here.
