Clean Energy Powers Nevada

Solar panels and wind turbines

The clean energy economy is creating good jobs, lowering energy bills, and increasing resilience in communities all across Nevada.

In 2021, the Nevada Legislature passed SB 448 to invest over $100 million into electric vehicle charging, develop transmission to move clean energy around the state, and create a regional grid to keep costs low. The legislature has also recently passed policies to encourage energy storage, improve the energy efficiency of appliances, double spending on low-income energy efficiency programs, support community and rooftop solar, and train the energy workforce.

Meanwhile, the current state administration created the state’s first climate strategy, adopted the Clean Cars Nevada program to ensure that drivers had electric options at sales lots near them, created annual Energy Efficiency Days, and led collaborative efforts with other states and the Nevada Federal Delegation to maximize regional and federal opportunities.

When public dollars are invested in the clean energy economy in Nevada, the state sees a six-fold return on investment. That's why more work should be done to make Nevada the best place for affordable, reliable, resilient, and secure clean energy growth. Read more about AEE’s policy priorities for the state.
